Can ya'll believe it? This baby is half a year old!
How in the...Lisey, put your ear muffs on...hell did that happen?!?!
I JUST had her!
I am sitting here typing this and it is almost 6 months ago to the minute that I was in that hospital bed holding you for the first time. I dreamed how wonderful my life would be and how much you would change it, but I could never have dreamed how awesome it truly is!
(couldn't you just die over this picture?)
Lisey this last month has been so much fun. You are a real life, grown baby these days!
Just when I think you have shown me all of your fabulous personality, you throw something else at me...and I LOVE it!
You giggle, talk, tell stories, gossip with your sister Maylie, sing songs to Daddy all the time!
You are a vocal little monkey!
And it isn't always happy vocals....you have figured out this crying thing. You almost had me and your Daddy tricked with those fake cries...but we are on to you! HA!
So before I get ahead of myself, lets get on with this month's recap!
You were 15 pounds, 15 ounces when we went to the doc on the 20th...as per usual, Daddy was closer at the weight guess (and he never fails to mention that! HA!).
You still fit in size 2 diapers, but they are quite snug! You are wearing size 3 overnight diapers at bedtime (game changer, mommas, game changer!). As of today we are going with the size 3s, there is no way you will wear 2s for too much longer...and we like to buy the cases! :)
You are growing faster than ever these months, seriously, I swear you grow over night...or even when your Daddy gives you a bath!
And while one of your favorite things is to be "naked baby".....you have more clothes than your momma!
You are in 6 months and 6-12 months clothes with a few of the bigger 3-6 months still fitting for the time being.
Momma has quite the addiction to buying headbands to match every outfit too....I can't stop!
And of course you had plenty of Christmas outfits to wear!! :)
You had two play dates this month, and all us mommies are loving watching you little nuggets grow!
Speaking of friends....your Auntie Laura found out she is having a little girl!!! So one of your very best friends, (Eleanor Catherine) with be here in April!!! YAYYYYYY!!
You went to work with Momma, and you were a big hit! But did we expect any less??
You are officially sitting up all on your own!
While some days you can only do it for about 30 - 60 seconds....other days you do it for much longer....but either way, you typically end up with your belly in between your legs, you are quite limber!
Speaking of limber, you looooove to eat your feeties!
Yes, that's what Daddy named them and you know them and love them. Keeping socks on to keep those little kickers to keep them warm is getting harder by the minute!
You still love putting anything and everything in your mouth! Toys, your fingers, my fingers, Daddy's fingers, your feeties, blankets, socks, presents,
You have finally figured out how high you can bounce in your bouncy and your Mimi and Papas, and you love it! Squealing with delight every time!
We also got you a door jump....you haven't quite figured that sucker out....the jump part, not so much...but you like to spin around on your toes...future ballerina??
You love your Sophie, your teething ring, Polly, your rings, and your skip op cow mirror thing. You favorite places to play are still your mat
and your exersaucer.
You got lots of presents from your first of 2 Christmases and I have no doubt you will have a few new favorites in there!
You can hold your bottle all on your own (YAAAAAYYYY!!!)
and I got this too precious video... I will laugh at this for years (you have to watch all the way through). And please excuse Momma and her potty mouth at the end, I really need to fix that! HA!
One of your biggest milestones was this month....yummy, real solid food!
We started out with the intention of Baby Lead Weaning, but we are kind of doing our own version of that. We started off with bananas, you loved them and actually ate quite a bit for your very first time. After that...you played more than anything. We then did avocado and, as per usual, you loved it!
I want to make sure you are understanding, digesting, and enjoying the new food so we are doing a little bit of real baby food too. We did some green beans the other day and you ate them suckers up!!
Momma also got your high chair all put together and I must say, I love that new staple in my kitchen. It makes me smile every time I see it! And it doesn't hurt how cute you look in it!!
Here are your first for this month:
First time to Opryland (a very, very special tradition for our little family!) - December 7
First time to see Santa - December 11
And you did so good, you were actually very unimpressed with Santa....you will learn, ha!
First time with REAL solid foods, a banana! - December 16
First Birthday with Momma (and it was a big one, eek!) - December 19th
First time with a sippie cup - December 22
You saw your very first Christmas Tree...and it was magical!!
You had for very first Christmas Card!
You helped momma wrap presents and decorate and bake all month!
You made us our very first Christmas gifts and we LOVED them!!
A plate warmer and an ornament!
And since you are officially 6 months on the 23rd, we did this post a few days late to include the Christmas festivities!
We had our first Christmas at Mimi and Papa's! Your Great Grandma GG was there, along with Uncle Adam and Aunt Grace and Cousin Arin, it was such a special time!
Even though you won't remember it, I have lots of pictures to show you one day! :)
We then went to your Nana and Papa's house for Christmas Eve church and our second Christmas! :)
You made it about 3/4 of the way through the service, but your just really wanted to dance and sing! :)
So we hung out in the back with Nana.
You with a few of your new friends and toys :)!
It was such a special holiday this year with you being a part of it. As I said before your Daddy and I had no idea how much our worlds would change with you in it! These days are more special than we can put into words, thanks for being our awesome little monkey!
And that's all we got for this month, we are blessed beyond words to be your parents. With all the crazy and scary things going on in the world these days your Daddy and I thank That Man above even more for you. You are so much fun, Lisey Bell, and you are my bestest little friend! I look forward to these next few months, as everyone tells me they are the most fun! And if it gets better than this month, your Daddy and I are in for some fabulousness!!! :)
I made these cookies for Elise's teachers for some holiday yummies.
I posted some pics on Instagram and lots of ladies asked for the recipe, so I thought I'd share on the ol' blog! :) The recipe is very easy, pretty messy, but very easy.
Red Velvet Sandwich Cookies
Ingredients: 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix 1 egg lightly beaten 2 cups cool whip 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350. Mix the first three ingredients until well blended. Place powdered sugar in a separate bowl. Using a teaspoon, drop batter into sugar to coat and roll into a ball. Note- the batter will be very sticky and messy, the sugar helps to form the balls.
Place balls 1 1/2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove cookies from baking sheet immediately to cool.
I sprinkled with green sprinkles to be extra festive! :)
I also thought I would make them extra indulgent by making them cream cheese sandwich cookies!
I just bought the whipped cream cheese tub of icing and piped it on to the cookie, sandwiched them, and voila!
I then got these fab boxes, liners, and ribbon from Michaels to deliver them in! I must say, I am very happy with how they turned out! :)
Hope you all enjoy!! Fa La La!!
Oh and PS, you can use any cake mix. These were originally a lemon cookie recipe and I decided to do Red Velvet to make festive fabulousness!! :)
