It's official...I am a foodie....

So if you know me, you know that 5 years ago I was a MESS in the kitchen. Capital M-E-S-S! If the directions weren't on the box, I couldn't do it!

And my fabulous mother made it worse, she is like Martha Stewart on crack! I kid you not, the woman is amazing and does the tiniest details to EVERYTHING! When we go home, she has about 8 appetizers waiting on us, several wine options and a drink station for the hubs...Jack and Diet with an ice bucket in the cooler months, and Kettle One and lemons with in ice bucket in the hotter months. Then she cooks a full out meal for every meal we have that weekend....2 different kinds of casseroles plus bacon and sausage and fruit for breakfast.....sandwiches for lunch - and of course they aren't you basic ham and cheese - they are for real! Then a 3 course meal for dinner! Needless to say we gain about 15 pounds every time we go home.

That all being said, I just thought I didn't have it in me....my brother is a chef and he and my mom can talk about food all day long, decipher what ingredient is in each food to make it taste the way it does, what it needs more of, less of, etc. etc.....I had no clue. I would just chat with my Daddy! :) The thought of cooking a Thanksgiving dinner sounded like my hell and stressed me out to the max just to think about it!!

Then, The Hubs came along...our 2nd date, he cooked for me. And man, did he cook for me! The best steak and chicken fajitas I have ever had. I felt the pressure....how could I top this? What if he expects me to be this 50s housewife that can cook and bake anything?!?! I can only make brownies!! OUT OF A BOX!!

Well, a few weeks later I decided I should try.....I made this recipe, Best Ever Meatloaf....I was terrified...I must have checked it about 15 times to make sure I wasn't over doing it. But.... I didn't, and he loved it! Said it was better than his mom's!! Now, I do understand we were still newl dating so he would say anything he could to make me smile....but I took it and ran with it! I called my mom bragging, I was so proud - as was she! I also made potatoes...which didn't turn out as well, but we won't talk about that....

But my point is, I have come a long long way! I actually still make that meatloaf and add my own little tweaks that I think make it better (ground turkey is fabulous!!), and if you can believe it...I really don't have to go by the recipe any more...I just do! :) And I love finding new recipes and making them my own! I get excited to have people over to cook for them...as opposed to buying store made for them as I used to do!:)...I love an excuse to make something yummy that people love!

That all being said, if you are like me, you will love some of these yummy yummy pics! :)

Wednesday Loves!

I am loving this Spaghetti Pie recipe I made the other night....

...the hubs requested some spaghetti pie, so of course I obliged! :) I did a few tweaks (used ground turkey instead of beef, no cottage cheese, and added minced garlic and basil to the meat, and maybe a little extra cheese on top... :)) and man, was it good! The hubs was raving...so much that we had it again last night....since there were lots of leftovers :). But I highly recommend it!

I am loving that the weather is supposed to be nice this weekend so I can finally get to work on my yard. Which is in desperate need since a family of moles decided to terrorize my yard!
I kid you not....there are parts of my yard (mainly the beds I worked so hard on last year...) look like this....
I'm not gonna lie, I felt bad when the hubs was talking about "getting rid of them"...I don't ever want to hurt animals.....but then everyday I came home last summer/fall....there were more holes, lines, soft spots...and my beds were no more....now I don't care what happens....I just want them gone. Don't ask, don't tell....right!? Soon my yard will look like this again...

who am I kidding...my beds never looked like this....but a girl can dream, right!? :)

Okay, back to what I love...sorry about that tangent....

I am loving this fun new blog my BFF showed me...I got sucked in yesterday....
 I highly recommend it! :)

I am loving that in one week and one day....I will be back at the beach....here....for my BFF's wedding!!

I am NOT loving that they have pushed Mad Men back....the next season won't be until 2012... :( boo!!!
I just love this show....love....love....love!

I am loving these gold shoes.... I need gold shoes for a wedding I am in in May....so I am on the hunt....

3 out of the 4 are Chinese Laundry....I guess I like Chinese Laundry....

would like these a lot more if they were all gold....

or maybe I should get these....think she'd kill me?!?! :)

HA!

And last, but never ever least.....

I am loving my hubby........he really is the best hubby in the whole wide world!! :) Love you, baby!!

Happy Wednesday, ladies!! Now head over to Jamie's and play along!

Stupendous Steps!

I was watching an episode of Dear Genevive on HGTV and she did something cool with a staircase in an entryway. She put this extremely detailed mosaic tile thing on it so it was like art and the main focus of the entry way, it was really pretty....but I was unsure if I would ever do anything like that. It seems now that I have seen them every where!! What are your thoughts?? Some are cool...some are strange....and some are a little much....

Could be good for a kids book store....that's about it...really hoping that's what it is....
Don't drink too much wine and walk up these suckers!
To help you learn to count!
You missed a spot....
More counting! :)
It's a rug...but a colorful one! :)
So you don't get lost in the dark...
No pressure going up these stairs.....
Not gonna lie, I kinda like this one....
this one too.....
Disco Stairs!!!
Dangerous Stairs! :)

House Love....

Happy Monday Folks! It is a cold, dreary, rainy day in Nashville....it seems Mother Nature played a trick on us with those beautiful 70-80 weather a few weeks ago.... :(

But I will not be negative, I will think of more fabulous things today! :)

I had a very very relaxing weekend! VERY much needed! Sunday I rented "Life As We Know It" from Redbox.

And let me just get off track here for a minute and say how much I loooooooooooooveRedbox....loooove! We rent from there at least once a week, I have the app on my phone so I can do it from where ever...and it's $1!! i just love it!
'
Okay, back to my point. I saw this movie when it came out in the theater and loved it then...hence the reason I decided to rent it again. And I loved it all over again. I absolutely love Katherine Heigl, she is one of my faves! And Josh Duhamel, need I say anything??!?! Just look at him....

But I forgot how much I loooooooooooooved the house in this movie. Looooooooooved. I have house Envy.....

Now these aren't the best pics, but they were all I could find. If you have seen the movie, you understand!

Ahhhh, the cookouts and parties we could host out here!!

This is a pic of the real house furniture...I am not as crazy about this style, but I looooooooove those ceilings!!

And this also made me think of my other Movie House Crush...the "Something's Gotta Give" beach house...

loooove.....
 love....

love....
 love...

So, those are my 2 Movie House Crushes!! :) What are yours!??!
