Friday-Finally! and some Volunteering!

Happy Friday to my fabulous blogging friends!!

I have been totally MIA most of this week. for a couple reasons, but mainly with Opryland being out of commission for the next 6 months (at least) the Nashville CVB is working hard to relocate all of the groups and events that were scheduled to take place there. That being said, I have been inundated with leads and requests for overflow groups and any rooms we can offer at all, so needless to say the latter part of my week has flown by!! And today makes it even better, my office is only working a half day and then we are heading over to Second Harvest Food Bank to volunteer and do what (seems like very little) we can! I think it is so wonderful that my entire office is going with no questions asked! I hope this is just the first of many things I can do to help in this process of getting our city back!! If any of you readers out there are interested in helping you can help in several ways:

And let me just preface this with how proud I am of our city and our community. We are all binding together and doing whatever it is we can do help every person in need and to bring our city back! It really does show people why Nashville is such an amazing city and why we are all so proud to be a part of it! Nashville will be back and stronger than ever!!!

For local volunteers you can contact Hands On Nashville to get information on local needs

~~~~~~~
There is also a group on facebook, Pay It Forward Nashville, this is a genius and amazing concept {and it already has almost 4,000 members!!}. Anyone can join to get or post updates, whether it be "Diapers needed at 101 Main Street" or "Volunteers with trucks needed to help transport supplies" or "we have an extra room for people in need", whatever it may be....it is the little things that we all know people need and don't know how to get it to them!! Needless to say I am am member and you should be too!!!!
~~~~~~~
There is also still the Red Cross, you can donate $10 by texting REDCROSS to 9099 or go to there website to offer more donations.
~~~~~~~
Tide's Loads of Hope is now in town as well!! For those of you that don't know, they come in with a big truck full of washing machines and a staff to wash, dry, and fold as much laundry as people in need need!! :)
You can find out more ways to help here.
And I would also like to make note at how awesome our celebrities are!!
~Kenny Chesney lost everything at his home and contacted Anderson Cooper to let him know that Nashville needed America's help!
{you can read more about it @ Anderson Cooper's Blog, here}
~ Jake Owen helped host a local benefit show at the very last minute on Wednesday at a local bar/restaurant. He cooked, worked, and performed!! {Jake Owen and Friends Benefit Concert}
~Taylor Swift donated $500,000 to Flood Relief Fun on last nights "Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends" telethon on WSMV-TV Channel 4
~Ke$ha donated 1,000lbs of dog food to the Humane Society - which is ssooooooooo awesome!! There are so many lost/found puppies out there and they have quickly filled up the shelters and there is no way for them to get to their owners. It is really sad. Really Sad. If you have ever even considered getting a dog now is the time to do it!!
This is just a few, you can check out all the other awesome benefits show coming up here.
More and more reasons of why Nashville is so AWESOME!!! Thank you so much to anyone who had already donated and to anyone that will do so in the future!! We need it and appreciate it more than you can possibly imagine!!!
I hope you all have a safe and dry weekend!!!
-Sarah
